When we remove your braces, we will begin the retention stage of your treatment. The retention phase lasts for a minimum of 24 months. Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you’ve put in so far. Remember to remove your retainer before brushing, and brush your retainer before placing it back in your mouth.

The day your braces are removed you will receive a set of clear, plastic retainers that are made in the office.  You will be instructed to wear these retainers full time for 3 months.  After 3 months of consistent wear you will be ready for permanent retainers which are only worn at night.

Whenever retainers are out of your mouth they need to be placed in the case we provide.  When wrapped in a napkin or put in a glass, retainers are often accidentally thrown away.  The case also keeps retainers safe from pets and distortion.

Keep your retainers clean by brushing them with a toothbrush and/or soaking them in mouthwash.  The sonic cleaner provided can also be used for periodic retainer cleaning.  Replace the cleaner tablets with denture cleaner tablets either clear or blue.  Rinse retainers thoroughly before putting them in your mouth.
